Description
The 5mm 5528 LDR Light Dependent Resistor is a photo-sensitive resistor whose resistance changes according to the amount of light falling on its sensing surface.
When the surrounding environment becomes brighter, the resistance of the LDR decreases. When the environment becomes darker, its resistance increases. This simple operating principle makes the 5528 LDR an excellent component for detecting day/night conditions and measuring relative changes in ambient light.
With a 5mm sensing surface and a typical light resistance of 10–20kΩ at 10 Lux, the LDR can easily be integrated into analog circuits or connected to the analog input of microcontrollers such as Arduino, ESP32, Raspberry Pi Pico, and STM32.
It is commonly used for automatic street lights, night lamps, light-activated switches, brightness control systems, security devices, robotics, and educational electronics projects.
